Summer, Summer, Summer Time.
The Season of Freedom.
Of Beach Days.
Of Trips to the Playground.
Of Gorgeous Sunsets.
And for some children, summer is the season of growling stomachs.
Did you know that nearly 90 percent of children that are out of school for summer are at greater risk for hunger? That’s because when school isn’t in session, they have limited access to the free and reduced price meals that they were receiving during the school year.
Imagine if one of those children were yours?
How can you help?
Volunteer. During the summer months, volunteers are need to help an existing feeding site with meal preparation and clean-up, to engage the children in fun activities, and to help transport food. You can visit www.feedingamerica.org to find a food bank near you that is seeking help.
Advocate. To find meal sites near your community, call the National Hunger Hotline 1-866-HUNGRY.
Engage. ConAgra Foods has partnered with Kid President to help spread the message. Simply view, like or share this video to help raise awareness for child hunger this summer. For each of these actions, the ConAgra Foods Foundation will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal to Feeding America, up to one million meals.
