Several of my blogging buddies blog from the Blogger platform. While there are several advantages to using Blogger – it is free and easy to navigate – there are disadvantages, too.
I know of three bloggers who recently had their blogs removed by Blogger for reasons unknown to them. Can you imagine, logging in only to find that your blog has been deleted? The thing about Blogger is that they can do that. WordPress doesn’t do that because you are paying for your own hosting and you are the master of your domain. {I’ve always wanted to say that!}
While those three bloggers did eventually get their blogs back, the stress that they experienced was not necessary. They lost visitors, and potentially lost opportunities to work with brands, too.
A few months ago, I wrote a post here about my move to WordPress. If you’re thinking of making the switch, you should read it too. You can find another post about why WordPress is a great blogging option here, too.
Which platform are your blogging from? Will you be switching to another platform soon?

I have been thinking about moving to WordPress lately, but I’m not sure I’m ready yet.
WordPress was scary and intimidating at first, but I love it now! It took me 2-3 months to really feel comfortable. If you have any questions, I’d be happy to {try} to answer them!
I have a blog on each site – I’ve got to say that the upside to wordpress is all the pages you can add to your site. (Mine is for work through wordpress.) But the downside is that it is a pain inserting video and pictures – they want you to pay for upgrades (not willing to do). Blogger is way better/easier to use in that regard. So, it’s a battle of the lesser of two evils, really. Good luck with your decision! 🙂

@Monica, I’m guessing you’re using wordpress.com the free version. self hosted wordpress is a better option. if you’re worried about cost, i selby media offers hosting at 3.50/per month. i have to blogs there now. my major blog is still on godaddy because i’,m too busy to move it. the hosting fee being the only expense, there’s a gazillion plugins and widgets you can add to your self hosted wordpress site for free. it’s an advanced version of wordpress.com with more control options.
great post girl! I’ve recently heard of two Blogger blogs that disappeared too. Poof! Mine disappeared which is why I made the move. Plus, i wanted all the bells and whistles. best choice i ever made.
I do my blogging through Xanga. My husband has used WordPress several times with good success. I’m an occassional blogger right now but if i ever get more serious I might consider moving from Xanga.
I’ve been thinking about making the move to word press but I have been putting it off…scary thought to think that my blog on blogger could just disappear someday…!!!! I may be making that move sooner than I had anticipated!
WordPress has been amazing! It’s a bit of a learning curve, but I love it over here!
I find Word Press Alot Easier To Navigate and like it alot better
Right now, I’m using WordPress. I am not using the paid options yet but I think that soon I will be doing that. It might be my Christmas present to myself. I love WordPress! So far, it’s been easy to use and easy to format for the basic level blogging I currently do.
