Let’s talk about music for a minute.
“Music…gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination”–Plato
I’m not a good singer, though I’ve been known to rock out in the car by myself.
I’m not a good dancer, though I’ll dance with The Boy in the living and danced with The Texan on our wedding day.
I can’t carry a tune in a bucket.
But, I can appreciate all that it has to offer. I’ll listen to nearly any kind of music, save the rap for someone else’s ears, please.
Alligator Pie can energize you
Dave Matthew’s Band is one of my all time favorite groups. Pretty much any of their songs will put me in a great mood and kick start my day. Aside from Steady As We Go, Alligator Pie is one of my favorites. Here’s a YouTube video for you to check out if you’re not familiar.
What songs energize you? Are you a Dave Matthews Band fan, too?

I love Dave Matthews Band as well. I don’t have a favorite song, Even the type of music I listen depends on my mood. However, if I had to pick a favorite band right now I would choose Panic at the Disco.

When I need a pick-me-up I listen to oldies or Disney songs.

Great song! Thanks so much for sharing. 🙂

Yes, a big Dave fan, but there are lots of songs that pep me up. I made a playlist called “Cooking” with all of them and listen to it when I’m walking outside (for energy) or doing long cooking sessions in the kitchen.

Hi. New visitor. Funny I should stumble across this entry as my husband sits down stares trying to *quietly* jam on his electric guitar. He’s a music fanatic, and I’m not. And I wish I were. It’s very hard for me to really hear the music in music anymore. Like you, I’m not musically inclined, but I did used to love to go dancing, could appreciate and enjoy all kinds of music, and dreamed of learning to play the banjo. (Don’t ask.) I even took banjo lessons two summers ago…I was terrible! I just don’t *hear* music the way I used to, and this started when I had my first baby, who would not, for the love of all that’s holy, go to sleep or stay to sleep without a ridiculous amount of help and quiet. She had colic, and her cry was at whistle-register, a la Mariah Carey, and it just DID something to my brain that has never been undone. I wish my poor husband didn’t have to sneak his music time in, like he’s doing right now. I know he’d love to CRANK it. All of which explains why I love it, love it, love it when out of the blue a song hits my ear and actually sounds good. It’s always a surprise. For me, one of the latest to do that is “We Are Young” by Fun. Interestingly enough, whenever I hear the old “Crash into Me” by your homeboy here, as long as I’m alone in the car and not preoccupied with anything else, I will shed a happy little tear, too!

Down stares? Did I really type that? I meant downstairs. Obviously.

I love all his music but I never know the names of his songs!
Emily says
Most of the time, I have to look up the names. This one touched me the first time I heard it – and then hearing it live, well, it’s just such a nice back story about why he wrote it. It quickly became one of my favorites!

Not a huge DMB fan, but I get what you’re saying about their music and how it can energize you. I feel that way about my fave bands too!

I love music. It can give you the boost of energy that you need and give your attitiude a boost. When I need a pick me up, I put on some Jay Z. It cracks my kids up.

“I turn my Camera on” by Spoon or “Hotel Yorba” by the White Stripes are two of my favorite get ya moving songs. My son’s had the Black Keys on a constant spin since Christmas when I bought him the album …there’s some real gems from them on that too.
