While watching the local news on March 1st, the meteorologist excitedly informed me that it was the first day of Meteorological Spring! This gets me excited every year, because I know that must mean that the true signs of Spring are just around the corner! And with the arrival of Spring comes more parties with friends and family. No matter the occassion, I’m typically in charge of dessert. I like to put a fun spin on traditional desserts, and this time I’m making Apple Pie Trifles!
If we were friends in real life, you’d laugh and probably question why anyone would want ME to be in charge of dessert. Dessert means baking; baking means measuring; measuring means patience – which I don’t always have. For people like me, Mrs. Smith’s pies are a great option. No measuring required! They come in so many mouthwatering varieties, like Original Flaky Crust Very Berry Pie, Original Flaky Crust Pumpkin Pie, and my favorite Original Flaky Crust Apple Pie.
Mrs. Smith’s pies are just like homemade and are the only frozen fruit pie made with real butter. Who doesn’t love butter?! I stopped by my neighborhood Walmart and picked one up. [Use the Ibotta App to earn a $1 rebate on any 32 ounce or larger Mrs. Smith’s pie!] I know what you’re thinking, “These are holiday pies!” NO! They’re not! These are year-round pies perfect for any occasion. Spring is an occasion, right?!
To make these apple pie trifles, you’ll bake your pie according to the package instructions. Be sure to allow plenty of time for it too cool. I like to bake my pie in the morning and assemble the apple pie trifles just before the party at night. An added benefit to baking a pie in the morning is that your house smells amazing all day! While your pie is cooking, whip up a batch of vanilla pudding and slip it in the refrigerator to chill.
I started with a layer of apple pie at the bottom of the mason jar, topped with a generous scoop of vanilla pudding, then another layer of apple pie, and then another layer of vanilla pudding. If you’d like to make your apple pie trifle even more decadent, top it with a dollop of caramel syrup. Screw the lid on your mason jar and you’re ready to go. These apple pie trifles travel well – and can be enjoyed anywhere simply by removing the lid!
If there is someone at the party who doesn’t like apple pie, make a note to not invite them next time (!) and bring a few slices of Edwards HERSHEY’S Chocolate Crème Pie.
These individual slices have luscious layers and home baked cookie crust will make you love every bite! Delicious!

So easy to make this recipe, and it is sure to impress! I love the idea of having individual slices of pie on hand in case someone doesn’t want the other dessert idea. Perfect.
