I love wine. There I said it. The first “real” job that I had was for an Italian restaurant chain, it was there that my love of wine began. I was taught that you don’t smell the cork (it smells like cork), you don’t automatically give the man the sample pour out of a bottle (unless he ordered it!), and you don’t have to feel intimidated by wine.
When Bruce and Pam Boring created the California Wine Club, they didn’t want consumers to continue to feel put off by wine. Although there are many varietals, it is easy to find one that you like without breaking the bank. The California Wine Club has been educating consumers about great California wine for more than 20 years. If you’re a new wine drinker or a wine drinker with a keen palate, the club offers approachable wines!
Wine sampling made easy with the California Wine Club
I received two bottles of Robledo Wines in my first monthly shipment. The first one The Texan and I tried was the 2009 Tempranillo. The wine is a beautiful ruby color, and has a rich finish. I could smell the cinnamon, while The Texan picked up on the blackberry and oak. This wine was easy to drink and paired well with our pizza.
The second bottle included in our shipment was the 2008 Sauvignon Blanc. We are saving this bottle for the warmer months when a chilled wine is more appropriate. I know that the wine will be drinkable, as the tasting notes indicate you can drink now or hold for up to 6 years. (Who keeps a bottle unopened for that long!?!)
California Wine Club is a perfect way to sample wines that are not available at your local wine shop. The wines offered are hand selected by Bruce and Pam from limited production wines. Find out more about the California Wine Club by visiting their website, www.cawineclub.com, Twitter and Facebook pages.
Look for my second California Wine Club review in just a few weeks, where I’ll be talking about two more exciting wines and offering a giveaway for a $50 California Wine Club gift certificate!

I won this last year for a blog giveaway, and they have awesome wines. If I drank wine more I would really invest in this! However, I may buy some for Christmas gifts for family members who drink a lot!

I’m not much of a wine drinker but my sisters, brothers and my husband love wine. I’m sure they’d be excited to be able to try the selections from the California Wine Club!

What a great way to sample wine and find where your taste may lay! I am looking forward to hearing more of this experience and your thoughts on them. I am a fan of blackberry flavoring in wines, it adds a nice richness I think.
