This recipe for double chocolate cookies makes great use of the Halloween Candy that is readily available this time of year! It’s easy to make and cookies are fun to include in a BOO kit to gift your neighbor!
I love this time of year. Watching the leaves change colors and the air has the crisp smell to it. The long summer days are fading into memories as we prepare to frolic and play in our neighborhood. This fall, we’re going to have a little fun with our neighbors by surprising them with an easy #BOOItForward kit for Halloween.
While searching for inspiration, I found this cute printable card to help the BOO’ing begin. It was super easy to put together, I just followed the following steps:
1| Cut out this “We’ve been BOO’d sign.
2| Fold the “You’ve been BOO’d” greeting card (page 2) and tape openings together.
3| Include the card and sign when gifting BOO bundles.
When thinking about what I was going to put in my BOO kit, I knew that I wanted to provide them with something useful for Halloween. I grabbed a canvas bag from my stash and added Trick or Treat to the front using heat transfer vinyl. Instant trick or treat bag!
I filled the bag with a few 8 ounce cans of 7UP® and Sunkist® soft drinks, themed straws, some fun size M&M’s®, SNICKERS®, TWIX®, MILKY WAY® candies, and these awesome double chocolate cookies made with my favorite Halloween candy.
The great thing about this double chocolate cookie recipe is that you can add YOUR favorite candy. so if M&M’s® aren’t your thing, chop up a few SNICKERS®, TWIX®, or MILKY WAY® candies and add them to the batter. Easy Peasy.
In the bowl of your stand mixer, cream together softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar.
Add eggs and pure vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, slowly.
Once all of the flour mixture is incorporated, add M&Ms®. You can let your mixer do the work, or you can do this step by hand.
Using a one-inch scoop, portion dough onto baking sheet. Cook at 375 for 13-16 minutes.
Let them cool slightly on the pan before moving to a baking sheet to cool completely.
