The Boy is away for the weekend, he’s spending time with my dad and step-mother at their house about an hour away. You’d think I’d be relaxing and heading out for a massage and a pedicure, but instead, I decided to use the time to sort through all of his toys. It is time for us to start thinking about which items he no longer uses because he’s outgrown them. I was surprised to see how many of his toys are powered by batteries, mostly because I have only purchased him only ONE toy that requires batteries!
Chances are, if you have a child, you have more than your fair share of battery powered items in your home. Oh, and let us not forget about remote controls for TVs, satellite and cable receivers, and cameras. Take a look around your home now. How many of these devices do you see? Batteries are a big part of many people’s every day lives; and we don’t even realize it.
When I heard about the new Duracell Quantum battery, I knew that it would be perfect for our family’s battery needs. This battery is the world’s most advanced alkaline battery with unbeatable, long-‐lasting power. No alkaline battery lasts longer. With its revolutionary Hi-‐Density CoreTM and proprietary PowerCheckTM power indicator on the cell, Quantum has been engineered to deliver the performance consumers demand.
What is even better about the Duracell Quantum battery is that this year, Duracell has donated one million batteries to first responders across the country to help them power their life-saving equipment. That is something to be commended! My dad is a retired police chief, having served his town for more than 35 years; and is now a member of their volunteer fire and rescue department. To say that I have a lot of respect for first responders is an understatement!
Did you know that first responders use (AA/AAA) batteries in critical devices that keep us safe and protect us – from life-‐saving breathing apparatus, and location tracking devices to flashlights? They also distribute batteries for community safety programs. It’s important to me to purchase goods from companies that are doing good. And Duracell is doing good.
I encourage you to pop over to YouTube and check out the Quantum Heroes, a documentary style video series that shines a spotlight on the incredible work of first responders and their stories of sacrifice and heroism. Tim McGraw hosts the video below on how Hurricane Sandy impacted the first responders from FDNY during last year’s Hurricane Sandy. Their story of bravery and unwavering desire to help others will bring a tear to your eye.
November is a time to reflect on all that you have to be thankful for. I am thankful to have a roof over my head, and knowing that there are many brave first responders out there willing to risk their lives should anything happen to my roof floods my heart with gratitude and peace.
This holiday season, be sure to support Duracell and your local first responders.
