As an environmentally conscious person, I was excited when Faucet Face reached out to me asking if I would like to review their reusable glass bottles.
It’s no secret that drinking water is a healthy choice. And it’s no secret that most people think they drink enough each day, but don’t. The Mayo Clinic recommends that women drink 9 cups each day. Of course, if you’re exercising, breast-feeding, or live in a climate that is humid you’ll need more. Perhaps drinking out of a cute reusable glass bottle would help you. That has helped me.
The Texan has taken to the Tap Water design. He thinks it’s hysterical. I do too. I’m in love with the hummingbird. That left the Hose Water for The Boy. He’s never had water out of the actual hose, but I know he’d love it if it he did!
In our home, we use a water filtration system to filter and chill our tap water. While we are fortunate to live in an area that has amazing drinking water, and do not need to filter our water, not everyone has this luxury. In Maharashtra, India many people are forced to drink and bathe with contaminated water. This causes life threatening illness and disease. In India, more than 1600 people per DAY die from severe cases of diarrhea; many of those deaths are children. When you purchase one (or more) glass bottles, a portion of the sales goes towards the purchase of a biosand filter to help a family with clean drinking water. You can learn more about the 1 for 100 initiative on the Faucet Face webpage.
A BioSand water filter is a simple concrete container. It houses several layers of sand which trap and eliminate sediments, pathogens and other impurities from the water. As the contaminated water travels through the layers of sand, it gets cleaned.
The filter is relatively inexpensive to construct, costs nothing to operate and is easy to maintain. Most importantly, they eliminate 90-95%† of impurities from the water.
These reusable glass bottles are not only super cute, but they are saving us money (yay!), encouraging us to drink more water (because who wouldn’t want to use a cute glass bottle), and helping others without access to tap water. I love that.
One thing that I noticed right away is that the water tastes fresh. It’s missing that plastic-y taste that we’re all accustomed to. And, the temperature is just right. It keeps the water chilled and I’m not worried about leaving it in the car on a sunny day. The glass is heavy and thick, so you’re not going to take this bottle to the gym with you; it is perfect for the car, at home, and at the office.
