I wrote this sense of community post while participating in a campaign for Mom Central Consulting on behalf of State Farm Neighborhood Assist program and I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
When The Texan and I thought about starting a family, we knew that living in an area with a strong sense of community was important to us. That is part of the reason that we chose to move from Florida to Massachusetts. Our Florida neighborhood wasn’t very family-friendly, and during our time there we saw lots of people come and go. It’s hard to establish roots when you don’t feel the community around you is constant.
The sense of community that we have now is overwhelming. It could be due to the fact that we have a child and we’re more involved; it could just be that people are friendlier on Cape Cod. Who knows?! One thing I know for sure is that we love living where we do, and appreciate how welcoming and friendly {most} people are here. Our community has come together to support many causes, and I’m proud of everything that has been accomplished.
When I heard about the State Farm Neighborhood Assist™ program, I couldn’t wait to get involved and spread the word about this amazing program. Each year, State Farm® donates millions of dollars to nonprofits across the United States and Canada. Last year, State Farm Neighborhood Assist™ was established to allow the public to help State Farm® decide where the money should go.
What is beautiful about this program, is that any nonprofit that can help the community improve education, safety and/or community development can apply. I was browsing the checking out the 200 finalists and had a tough time deciding where and how to vote. It was a tough choice because the 40 causes that receive the highest number of votes will each receive a $25,000 grant. A grant like that can help many organization achieve their goals and accomplish big things.
Where will your votes go?
