Our weather is warming up which means I’ll be wearing more dresses, skirts, and shorts. I am excited for the bright sunny days ahead, but know that my morning routine will be a few minutes longer than it is now. Because I’ll be shaving my legs. Daily. Ugh.
That’s almost enough to make me move to the Arctic Circle!
Shaving your legs daily can lead to ingrown hairs. Of course, the best way to prevent them is not to shave, but that’s not an option for this time of year. Shaving is tough on your skin, and doing it every day is not very good for your body’s largest organ either. {Yes, skin is your body’s largest organ.}
To avoid those pesky ingrown hairs, try to shave your legs toward the end of your shower. Doing this will allow your skin {that BIG organ} to absorb moisture and for the follicle to open. You may also want to use an exfoliating wash to remove any dead skin cells prior to shaving. Your skin is constantly regenerating itself, even with daily showering you are likely to encounter dead skin cells.
Remembering to replace your blade frequently, avoid tight fitting clothing on freshly shaved areas {just say no to spandex!} and shaving in the direction of growth will help lessen the chances of ingrown hairs.
What are some things you do to prevent ingrown hairs?
