Little Boys can say the sweetest things to their mothers.
Today, The Boy told me “You have pretty hair, Mommy.” and “You’re doing a really good job, Mommy.”
I wasn’t having a particularly good hair day, so this compliment made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Like most of his sweet words do.
We’ve been encourage him to practice skills that he needs to develop. And, I often tell him that he’s doing a really good job. That I’m proud of him. If he keeps practicing, he’ll be able to do it soon. It’s great to see that he IS listening to what I say – since turning three I’ve questioned his hearing! – and that I am making an impact even more than I know.

Awww the boy is soooo SWEET!!! My little boy has recently been giving me compliments without any prompting. Recently in the car he started singing a song: mama mama mama gibberish etc … at the end he clapped and then smiled at me and went “i love you mama, kiss” It was so cte and just melted my heart into a million pieces. π

Not sure this is sweet or not, but my son when he was about 3, turned to me and said “Mom, you’re impossible!!!” it was sweet because I didn’t even know he knew the word.

So sweet! I have two little girls, and when they give me hugs and tell me they love me, I turn into a puddle on the floor!

That is really sweet! I love that little ones are so in tune to when we need those little pick me ups! My daughter is 17 and we adopted her 3 years ago. When she does something that I can see is all me and my husband, which is more and more often, I melt.

I think what kids say it is such a reflection on how kids are taught at home. In our home we try very hard to teach love and acceptance. I have a dear friend who has a 9 yr old autistic daughter. One night our families got together for dinner. The kids were playing and laughing and having a great time. My 5 yr old son came up to me and said, “even tho “A” can’t talk we can still be play and be friends.” It melted my heart to hear and see him exercise what we have been trying to teach him all of his life. I think we can learn a lot from our little ones.

When my daughter called me Daddy for the first time, that was it, I was sold. I know we’re young, but we can make it!

I know my mom use to love it when my Younger brother the baby use to say I love feeling your hair. Now well all try to build up her self esteem which was dashed after part of her skull sunk in after brain surgery that saved her life. I personally do not hardly notice this anymore she is just my mom and my friend. Children especially when they are younger can say the cutest things

I love when my daughter tells me “Your the best mom ever”. I always tell her of course I am, I am the ONLY mom you have! LOL We also like to “argue” about who loves who more.

I love when my (almost) 3 year old is riding in the car and tells her baby sister something, and then immediately says “Mom, I told baby M ……. ” a verbatim repeat of what she just said. It’s so sweet how she loves her sister and likes to share it with me.

Well my son isn’t born yet. 5 more weeks to go but reading your post just gave me a little taste of how sweet it’ll be when he could talk and say sweet things like those. I want to encourage him to honestly compliment it’s such a great trait to have and once he’s all grown up , he’ll make his wife happy with his compliments and when i hear them i’ll smile knowing we did a good job π Thank you for such a great post

Reading these make me smile. My grandson who just turned 4 doesnt always want me to hug and kiss him. But he does surprise me out of the clear blue sky some days he just stops what hes is doing and walks over and kisses me or say I love you Grandma. One day he peaked in the bathroom as I was combing my hair and he says ” your hair looks beautiful Grandma” these are the things that Imake me smile about every time I think of them.

It’s good that they say sweet things like that once in a while to make up for those other moments that you want to strangle them with both hands. π

One day when I wasn’t feeling well, my daughter (then age 4) told me she was going into her bedroom to pray for me. A few moments later, I hear: “Dear God, please help mommy to feel better so that she can go wherever she wants… If she wants to go to Chuck E. Cheese, that would be great. Amen.”

I just had my second child three weeks ago. I was doing fine getting adjusted to two children (my other son is 2 1/2), but on the three week mark I had a mini-breakdown. I was tired, stressed, and just overwhelmed. I started to cry, and my 2 1/2 year old came over to hug me. He looked into my eyes, touched my face, and said, “Don’t be sad, Mama.” I felt bad for crying in front of him but was so proud that he was able to recognize the emotion and try to comfort me.
Emily says
Oh my gosh – THAT is the sweetest thing! I nearly cried too! I hope that you and your family are adjusting well – and always remember that the blogging community is here to support you! Congrats on baby #2.

One of the best things about being a mommy is times like this – the other day my daughter told me she loved my purple eyes because I had purple eyeliner on – something so simple…yet so sweet!

I love to hear the great compliments and comments that come from little peepers. Each time it surprises me that they even would think about, for example, how nice their mom’s hair is today. It seems that compliments like that one would be reserved for adults. I hope little ones keep surprising/thrilling me like that for years!
Amanda Alvarado says
I love it when my dd and I “argue” back and forth about who loves who more! It is so cute to hear her say “I love you more, mommy”.
