What a year 2014 has been! It’s hard to believe that we’ll be welcoming a new year in just a few days! As we gear up for ht easy holiday season, it’s a great time to reflect on all that we had accomplished so far.
The year started off with record amounts of snowfall and drastically low temperatures. We were in need of a family getaway, so we packed up and headed south to the sunshine state.
During our trip, I learned about the second annual Celebration Marathon. The course is gorgeous – very flat with breathtaking views of wooded area and beautiful homes. As soon as we returned home, I began training.
Crazy, right? {And no, I’ve never run a marathon, though I was a runner in high school.}
Yeah, that’s what my body thought too as I was plagued by a foot injury in August. It was discouraging as I’d shaved nearly two minutes off my time and was logging a lot of miles. I was so focused and committed, being sidelined was such a huge set back.
As the days turned into weeks, I found myself becoming lazy and unfocused. I turned to my yoga practice; and it was just what I needed. Yoga is a great form of exercise; and although it’s low-impact, you can get quite a workout. And more importantly, you can turn your focus inward and really listen to yourself.
Being unstoppable means focusing on doing what you love and loving what you do. As I began to listen to myself, I realized that I had no outlet. So, I decided to do something about it. I launched a new business on Sunday and am so excited – and proud! {and nervous!} There’s been talk about it for months (at least 13 of them!) and it feels great to finally jump right in.
It means less free time, more focused working time on content for my wonderful readers (that’s you!), more easy weeknight dinners. It means lots of paint, sawdust, and dirty hands. But, it also means relief for me. I have an outlet again. And it feels great.
Nothing is going to stop me!
