Hello Friends!
We have been B-U-S-Y since I last shared our week in photos with you. I’m realizing it was more than a month ago, so I’ll spare you the Christmas photos. You can check my Instagram feed for those! Here’s the skinny on what we’ve been doing for 2014. {Just a heads up: This is a photo heavy week in photos post!}
This was the first sunrise on January 1. It was barely popping up over the tree line.
And, later in the day we checked the weather…
Feeling anxious, giddy, excited, and annoyed..I dashed out to snap up a pair of boots. I got these beauties. They are lovely. Waterproof. Warm. And on sale. A win all around.
The following day, we woke to this.
And six hours later it looked like this:
The next morning, it looked like this:
Local meteorologists were reporting that our area received 14 inches of snow. There was a lot of blowing and drifting – our backyard had almost no snow! We were thankful for that, as it was our only exit. The front door was frozen shut – and well, the side door there was just a bit of snow piled up against it!
We had a blast sledding at a local golf course. If I owned a golf course, I’d be worried about injuries. The {much} older kids seemed to be having a bit too much fun. After moving to a smaller hill, we had a blast!
I don’t know about you, but when I’m snowed in, I get the urge to bake. So I whipped up a batch of chocolate chip cookies, baked half and froze the other half.
And baked delicious cinnamon raisin bread in my flashy new bread maker (thanks, Dad!)
Once the snow stopped, the temperatures warmed up and it rained. All the snow was gone. That’s my kind of storm. Especially since it meant we were heading back to school after a two week break. Two weeks is a long break in routine, especially if you thrive on it. Like me. I’m thrilled to be back to making lunches, even if they’re not super duper fancy and over the top creative.
We spent some time being strawsome. Absolutely strawsome.
There were a few trips to Ikea, too. We purchased a new bed for The Boy and changed things up a bit in his bedroom. {More on that in a few weeks.} We also added this fabulous storage unit to our family room that allows us to quickly find the Legos we’re looking for! {more on this later, too!}
I also found these beauties. The Original Miller Lite can! Woot woot! Did you know that Miller Lite is THE original light beer? My dad used to drink it when I was a kid, still does in fact. I remember these cans in our fridge, cooler, and our recycling bin. Nostalgia is a beautiful thing.
Well, cheers, friends! I’ll be using one of the retro cans as I tend to The Boy’s first shiner. He bumped heads with a friend at school today. {Just kidding about using the beer can, by the way!}
What are you doing with yours?

Looks like a great week! The snow is pretty but I wouldn’t wan to live with it or those temps. Love the Lego container!
