I’ve talked briefly about Project Life and how it’s helping me to document my family’s story. Through Project Life, I was exposed to the talented Ali Edwards. She designs digital scrapbooking supplies, shares her creative process, and passion for her children over on her blog. Each year, she orchestrates a Week in the Life project. Last year I wanted to do it, but didn’t. This year, I am all in.
If you’re following me on Instagram, you noticed that yesterday was a busy day for me! I was busy working on Day One of my week in the life project AND my day in the life project (the next one will be on 10/10, followed by 11/11 and 12/12. See the trend?). In case you missed it, I am going to share a little bit with you today – and throughout the week.
Most days, I wake before everyone else. I love the peaceful sounds of the birds and the smell of the air in the morning. The world seems untouched, gentle and kind. Monday I woke to the sound of The Texan’s alarm clock. It sounds like a tornado warning or hurricane siren. It’s quite loud. Certainly loud enough to scare you out of bed. I remained still, wishing myself to fall back to sleep while he crept downstairs to head to Crossfit.
I didn’t fall back to sleep. Instead. I met with an old friend to see how things were going.
Pretty well, in case you’re curious. I made my way downstairs of a delicious cup of coffee. We still have a bit of this left, but I am going to replenish our supply soon.
Monday is a school day for The Boy. He took a quick bath and got dressed, I made his lunch while ate breakfast, and it was time to go. It’s amazing how quickly time passes on school mornings. After drop off, I returned home to my seemingly endless list of chores. How three people generate so much laundry is a mystery I will never understand!
I planned our menu for next week and my workflow this week, which includes a coffee date with one of my oldest friends. I’m looking forward to seeing her. It’s been too long.
After school, we had fun joking around with Mr. Potato Head’s teeth. If The Boy’s teeth look like this, I think we’ll need to see an orthodontist soon!
I deviated from the menu plan on Monday. I forgot how much I missed meatless Monday meals. A bowl of pasta with garlic marinara was just what I needed. Of course, I’m in full carb-craving mode now. Yes, it was worth it.
We did a few other fun things last night, but one thing The Boy always looks forward to is brushing his teeth. He loves it. Must be that delicious Tom’s of Maine Strawberry toothpaste.
Last night, I watch one of the most inspiring episodes of Extreme Weightloss. It was about a police officer named Bob. He lost 253 pounds in ONE YEAR. So inspiring, and a great reminder for me to push forward when faced with adversity. You can find him on Instagram.
Be sure to follow along this week on Instagram as I continue to share my Week in the Life with you. I’m shooting for a daily post as well, but do keep in mind that I don’t typically post on weekends and I haven’t decided if I am going to make an exception this week. If you’re interested in seeing what other’s Week In the Life looked like on Monday, check out the link party that Ali is hosting!
