When we first discovered that we were expecting, The Texan and I both knew that we wanted to expose our child to some of the things we remembered from our own childhoods. We talked about different nursery rhymes and determined that neither of us actually knew them correctly!
We’ve been known to search the internet for the right words to a nursery rhyme. Please tell me that we aren’t the only parents to have done that! {Gosh, I’ll be embarrassed if we are!} When I heard about The Classic Nursery Rhymes Collection I knew that it was a must have for our DVD collection.
The DVD includes a collection of 72 nursery rhymes video vignettes. You’ll recognize many of the classic tales and be transported back to memories of your own childhood! Some favorites are:
- Baa Baa Black Sheep
- Mary Had a Little Lamb
- Little Bo Peep
- Pop Goes The Weasel
- Old MacDonald
- Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Grammy Award AND Tony Award winner John Du Prez is the musical director. (You may recognize him from A Fish Called Wanda and Spamalot.) He has previous experience composing music for children’s television series, and it shows in this DVD.
We enjoyed watching the DVD as a family and I’m sure The Boy will be thrilled to listen to the available CD as well!
If you have the BabyFirst TV Channel, you’ll be able to view clips from the collection. BabyFirst is available from DIRECTV, Dish Network and Comcast, as well as in select Time Warner and Charter markets. Be sure to connect with Classic Nursery Rhymes on Facebook to learn more.
