The 151st annual Marshfield Fair is finally here! This yearly Agricultural Fair draws hundreds of competitors in 4-H, arts and crafts, agricultural and horticultural events!
We had the opportunity to explore all that the Marshfield Fair has to offer on opening day! (Be sure to take advantage of the wristband ticket packages.) It was such a fun day! I cannot decide what I enjoyed more, noshing on the delicious food (hello fried pickles!), riding the midway rides (the slide is always a favorite of mine!), or learning all about the agricultural and horticultural offerings.
Did you know that the Marshfield Agricultural and Horticultural Society, sponsors of the Marshfield Fair, are dedicated to making this the premier event of Southeastern Massachusetts? I think they’ve succeeded!
My family and I truly enjoyed the beautiful butterfly exhibit, the ox pull, learning about how hard bees work to produce the delicious honey we all love so much, and watching the wood carvers shape small pieces of wood into beautiful birds.
What to Expect at the Marshfield Fair
The Marshfield Fair has something for everyone!
1| Be prepared to walk a lot! Expect to log a lot of steps because the Marshfield Fair is BIG!! It’s a short walk from the grassy parking lot to the paved entrance of the fair. Bring cash – exact change if you have it to help speed the lines along!
2| Live animals There are several pigs, goats, and sheep to see. Keep your eyes out for birds of prey, too!
3| A Demolition Derby No summer fair is complete without a demolition derby! And the Marshfield Fair Demolition Derby will not disappoint!
4| The Midway Rides Who can go to the fair without hitting the rides? The Marshfield Fair has many favorites such as The Zipper, The Giant Slide, and Flying Swings.
5| The Food Do not miss the food. I think we tried it all! Fried Dough, Fried Pickles, Hot Dogs from the local Lions Club, Italian Ice, and refreshing Lemonade. There’s also a tent with adult beverages, if you’re interested. Remember to grab a bag of cotton candy for the ride home!
When you attend the fair with your family this year, I hope you enjoy the magic shows, midway rides, and exhibits as much as we did! What do you love most about a county fair?
