I’ve discovered something about myself. I love to start new projects. You would think that the bathroom I talked about repainting so many weeks ago would be finished by now, wouldn’t you?
Well, it isn’t. Because I don’t like to finish projects.
Not anymore that is. When I was a corporate gal, I worked on huge projects and was almost always on a deadline for something. Life was all about beating the deadline – completing the project before the deadline. I always hated turning projects in on the due date. One project after another, no matter how big or small, I couldn’t wait to dig in and get going. But, that was then.
This is now. My life is entirely different. I left the corporate world five years ago for a family-run business that was so laid back, I’m not sure what type of work I was even doing. There were no deadlines and no accountability. Yet, my performance was always recognized as outstanding. Go figure.
As a stay-at-home mom of nearly three years, I find that I no longer have that competitive drive I once did. While I love to start projects, it’s been pointed out that I am easily sidetracked with other projects. (Exhibit 2: My Project Life album sits virtually untouched. Another started project that I haven’t finished.)
A few months ago, I opened an Etsy shop. Then I had surgery on my elbow, so sewing was put on hold while I recovered. And, I’m 75% recovered, but haven’t resumed sewing. Yet. That’s one thing I’m certainly going to get back into. I love it.
Let’s swing back to the bathroom project. Soon we’ll be showering outside (if Mother Nature gives us some sunshine!), and our bathroom won’t get as much use. Perhaps that will be the incentive I need to finish? More on that project in a later post.
Do you like starting new projects? Are you able to stay on track and complete them?

I am the exact same way!!! Constantly writing things down to do but start them and don’t finish or never start 🙁 though the ones I do start and finish take me in new directions…. now you have inspired me to actually start my scarpbooking for Ethan!
Let me know if you’re planning to start Project Life, I’d love to share my affiliate link with you! 😉 And, it’s easy…next rainy day I’m going to work on mine.
I have a few projects that Im needing to finish. I call myself putting it off because of school but come next Friday, I will no longer have that excuse lol
I’m horrible lately with finishing projects. My husband recently pointed that out, and I’ve given it a lot of thought. Just can’t find the reason. Good luck with finishing yours!
I do like starting new projects but I have a VERY hard time finishing them usually. I went through my craft stuff recently & found so many “just started” projects and a ton of “it looked cute in the store” projects. It’s something I am working on though!
this is where i STRIVE is in finishing projects. If something is unfinished it will bother me so badly
