3 Ways to Save Time on Laundry Day

With the holidays in full swing, I feel like I’m falling behind on everything! The Boy is on vacation for two weeks, and I need to stay on top of things. While we are planning to have a lot of fun and enjoy the unseasonably warm temperatures, my house needs to stay neat and orderly for the guests we’ll be entertaining.

One of my least favorite things about being an adult is doing laundry. I find laundry to be overwhelming and time consuming. Very time consuming. After spending a few minutes thinking about how I was wasting time on laundry day, I came up with these easy ways to save time on laundry day! I hope they’re as helpful to you as they were to me:

1| Sort your laundry BEFORE laundry day. We have seperate laundry bins for towels, dark colored clothing, light colored clothing. The Texan built me a laundry basket organizer that we keep in our upstairs bathroom. The three baskets make it easy for The Boy to know which items to put in which bin.

2| Do laundry every day. I know this seems daunting, but washing/drying/putting away one load of laundry every day can save you time. If you can, slip a load into the washing machine while you’re making dinner. It should be ready for the dryer just before you sit down to eat. Then, fold it while you’re relaxing and binge watching your favorite TV program.

Alternatively, if your washer has a delayed start feature, setting it to complete the wash cycle when you wake up in the morning gives you a jump start, too. Imagine, slipping your laundry into the dryer while you’re drinking your first cup of coffee? You could fold it before heading out the door for the day!
