Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I had an exciting career in the restaurant industry. Like many before me, I began my tenure as an hourly employee, and climbed the corporate ladder. Lucky for me, that ladder led right up to the headquarters for the largest casual dining company in the country. One of the most exciting projects that I worked on during my time there was a major re-design of the website.
During that process, I learned how difficult it is to build a website, especially one for a major corporation. Not only are you required to have multiple executives approve each change, you want to extend the brand image to the website. It is not an easy feat to bring a warm, inviting feeling to a laptop screen.
When making changes to my blog, I often reflect on that experience. It serves as a reminder that my blog is my brand’s image. It is the vehicle that drives readers toward me, and some away. I know that I cannot please everyone with my brand’s image, but that is not my objective. My goal is to build a community of like-minded readers who are entertained and enriched by what I have to say. How am I doing so far?
