Welcome to Week Three of the Color, Click Capture Photography Challenge hosted by East9thStreet, A Helicopter Mom, Sunshine and Sippy Cups, and me.

This week’s color is yellow. This time of year, we don’t have much in the way of yellow outside. Though there is one constant that remains year round…a street sign. I get a kick out of the sign every time I see it. I should probably research to find out what it means…to me it says “Caution. Hula Hooping Ahead.”
This week’s photography tip comes from Faith Massey. Faith owns and operate Images by Faith Portrait Art, a boutique studio nestled in the Lake Norman area, just outside Charlotte, NC. Her passion for art started early and she explored many different mediums but found her true love in photography after having my first child in 1994. After moving from California in 2004 she opened her studio in Huntersville. As a mother of 5 beautiful children, she is very comfortable working with babies and new parents alike. Her style has been described as natural, refined and unpretentious and she loves to highlight every sweet detail of children, using primarily natural light to capture the soft sweet beauty found in children.
When photographing small children, get out from behind the camera….
Children, particularly young children, react to your facial expressions. If they can’t see your face, they are less likely to make eye contact with the camera or have the expressions you are looking for. Try to engage with the child and move the camera up quickly, take your shot and then move it again quickly so you keep your subjects engaged.
Is your photography improving by following our weekly tips? Be sure to link up your YELLOW photo this week. While you’re out hunting for next week’s color – green – think about the different shades of green that surround you and try to capture the many hues.

On days like these we could all use an uplifting “Caution. Hula Hooping Ahead” sign. I love that the sign commands attention while the curve of the road and the greenery offers a pleasant background.
btw that is a String Cheese Incident sticker 🙂
Stopping by from the Alexa Hop! Have a wonderful week!
Have you tried to hula hoop? I had them at my daughter’s birthday party. Why did I think a bunch of 2-4 years could do it when their parents couldn’t? I guess I don’t have the moves like Jagger…lol!
It has been ages since I’ve “tried” to hula hoop…but now that I live so close to that sign, maybe I should start practicing!
Stopping by from the Alexa Hop on Mama Luvs Books. I also left you a review on Alexa.
Thanks!

Hah! I love this! I want a sign like this for my yard… I love hoopdance and like to practice in my yard, but if you come too close, you never know when a stray hoop will go flying.
