On Monday, I shared my views on what I believe to be a far fetched news story. Well, I was wrong. {That hurt just a little bit.}
After conducting an investigation, it was determined that a 15-month old toddler WAS SERVED TEQUILA at an Applebee’s restaurant in Madison Heights, Michigan – a suburb of Detroit. Yikes. So glad that I am not Media Relations gals Nancy Mays or Melissa Racer. I cannot imagine how stressful their week has been.
A good thing came of this unfortunate incident. Applebee’s restaurants are changing how they serve apple juice to children. YAY! Although they didn’t implement my suggestion, what they’ve decided to do is wonderful! Welcome single-serve apple juice to the Applebee’s menu! Hopefully, the apple juice isn’t full of high fructose corn syrup and is actually 100% juice.
(Note: In a Press Release, Applebee’s expresses regret for the situation and states that their attempts to speak with the child’s parents have been unsuccessful.)
Do you think single-serve apple juice is a good idea? Would you like to see other casual dining chains make the switch?
