Running is a great way to burn calories, clear your mind, and enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer (good or bad)! When you’re running, you see more things than you would driving down the same street in your car. Unfortunately, I see a lot of litter, things like empty food containers and discarded coupons. It would be great if people would wait until they were home to toss their trash and switched to paperless coupons.
In high school, I was a runner. And I loved it. Many of our training runs were through the beautiful wooded areas protected by the National Seashore. One fun training run was from our high school to a local ice cream franchise. I don’t remember that particular route being approved by the coach, but we all seemed to run our fastest on those days.
Somewhere between college and getting married, I put running on the back burner. The Texan and I picked it up for a while; it was fun to have a running partner again. And then we relocated to Boston and I, once again, hung up my running shoes. I had a baby and poured all of my energy into him. I realized early this year that my baby isn’t a baby anymore. And that it is okay to do something for myself.
In May, I purchased a new pair of running shoes. I laced them up. And I ran about a quarter-mile before huffing like I was the Big Bad Wolf and ready to blow a house down. It was a bit disappointing; but I didn’t let that first run stop me. I’ve been running about 4 days each week, sometimes 5. Crazy, right?
All of this activity has me sweating and aching. While browsing my Walgreens Mobile App to check store hours, I found their paperless coupon section. The Walgreens Paperless Coupons are manufacturer eCoupons that can be ‘clipped’ to your Balance Rewards account and redeemed when you purchase the product. You can redeem them by presenting your Balance Rewards card, using your Walgreens Mobile App, or providing the cashier with the telephone number linked to your Balance Rewards account. I love this environmentally friendly way to clip coupons and save money! You can use each coupon once, and it’s automatically deleted from your coupon list after use.
There were coupons on nearly all of the beauty essentials for runners that I was looking for! I got everything that I needed and saved money, too!
The more active you are; the more you sweat. Choosing the right deodorant can be tough. A waterproof version is great for summer; especially if you decide to jump in a lake mid-way through your run.
Pulling back long hair is a must-do for runners. To avoid breaking your hair, look for hair elastics that don’t have metal parts.
With sweat comes clogged pores. And no one wants to deal with that as an adult! Choose a gentle cleanser that is dermatologist tested.
While I’m running, my lips often feel dry, despite all the sweating that I am doing. It’s a good idea to choose a lip balm which contains SPF. Your lips are a very thin layer of skin, protecting them year round is so important.
I saved $6.25 on my most recent Walgreens trip. I’m putting that money into my race registration fund! Celebration Marathon, here I come!

I wish I could get myself back into a 4 or 5 day running routine. I need a few things to add to my bag… I have the Simple Face Wipes, but I need to toss some moisturizer in there too.

It’s tough to make myself carve the time into my day. But once I got back into the practice of running regularly, I find that I crave it if I don’t go!
