I’m a HUGE cereal fan, aren’t you? We all know that cereal is a great choice for breakfast or a snack, but did you also know that it’s a great mix-in for cookies? Today I’m sharing my bottom of the cereal box cookie recipe and a little bit about the 7th Minion toy available in specially marked General Mills® cereal boxes exclusively at Walmart!
The cereal aisle was one of my favorite places in the store as a child. The hopes of finding a toy prize at the bottom of the box was so exciting! Not having siblings, it was a guarantee that I’d find {and keep} the toy prize for myself. The same applies now for The Boy. Being a singleton has it’s advantages!
With the upcoming release of the Minions movie, you can find friends of your favorite Minions hidden in select General Mills® cereal boxes. You can find the specially marked Minions movie packaging on the XL/Family Size boxes Honey Nut Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms, Reese’s Puffs, Trix, Cocoa Puffs, and Golden Grahams. And there’s a special prehistoric 7th Minion, that is only available at Walmart stores – so shop quick as these will go fast! You don’t want to miss your chance to collect all seven!
As much as we love eating cereal, we get bored eating the same thing every day. That means there are often small portions of cereal left in the box as we push it aside in search of something new for our taste buds. You do this too, right? Rather than let it get stale, bake up a batch of these bottom of the cereal box cookies.
Bottom of the Cereal Box Cookies
What You’ll Need:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
2 eggs
3-4 cups cereal
1/2 cup dried cranberries {optional}
1/2 cup chocolate chips {optional}
What You’ll Do:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine flour, salt, and baking soda in medium bowl and set aside.
To the bowl of a stand mixer, add sugars, vanilla, and butter mixing until well combined.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well to ensure they’re thoroughly combined.
Slowly add the flour mixture, beating until well combined.
Fold in the cereal using a rubber spatula.
Because I used two cereals, I added them one at a time.
Then add the optional mix-ins.
Using a one-inch scoop, place dough onto cookie sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
Let cool slightly on pan before moving to cooling rack. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.

What a great way to ensure you use up all the leftover cereal! This happens to us far too often. I’m going to have to ensure I buy two boxes of General Mills cereal too so each girl gets a toy. I was a singleton too and took getting to keep the prize for granted. #client
