Living a healthy lifestyle is important to me. I love supporting others with their healthy living choices, whether it is adding more exercise to their daily routines, eliminating candy, or giving up soda. I’ll be your cheerleader; because I want you to live a healthy, active life. To enjoy every minute of every day without feeling tired from too much movement or sluggish because you’re fueling your body with not so great food choices.
It’s important to remember that healthy living isn’t about what we’re doing for ourselves; it’s about what we are doing to help our communities. All across America, caring people are quietly doing amazing things for the health of their communities. Some are building playgrounds, some are cleaning up graffiti, while others are starting walking groups for new moms. To say thank you, independent Health Mart pharmacists are awarding $50,000 in grants to community health non-profits to recognize them for improving health and well-being in their communities.
Do you know someone that is encouraging healthy living in their community? To enter the Health Mart’s Champions of Care Challenge, simply tell the story about the awesome work you or someone you know has done, and you could win the right to select the non-profit of your choice to receive thousands of dollars to continue critically important work for the health of the community.
Health Mart’s Champions of Care Challenge will shine a bright light on those unsung local heroes whose everyday actions have built healthier families, workplaces, neighborhoods and communities.
A $30,000 grant chosen by the grand prize winner
A $3,000 grant chosen by the 2nd place winner
A $2,000 grant chosen by the 3rd place winner
$1,000 grants chosen by each of 15 finalists
Nominations are being accepted through March 9. So get to work writing your story! Then, beginning on March 17th, the public will have two weeks to vote for their favorite Champions of Care at www.healthmartcommunity.com.
If you’re not volunteering in your community, I hope this post will inspire you to do so. There are many benefits to volunteering – you’ll be connecting with others in your community, learning new skills, help a cause that is important to you. Think about a cause that inspires you – and get involved. If there isn’t an organization supporting something near to your heart, start one. You can do big things.
Is there someone in your community encouraging healthy living in your community? Be sure to nominate them for the Health Mart’s Champions of Care Challenge!

This is a very worthwhile program! I do volunteer at our local animal shelter, and at a food bank (no, lol, not on the same day!) I love that I am helping families eat healthier by volunteering at the food bank, and we get plenty of exercise too, bending and lifting. It all makes for a healthier life, for me and others too!

What an awesome program! I actually do volunteer in my community. There is a group that meets once a month to pick up litter on the sides of the roads and we volunteer as a family at least 4 or 5 times a year.

I’m not aware of anyone specific who promotes healthy living in my community but I know the local stores usually try to promote healthy food choices and lifestyle changes which is pretty commendable. The more awareness the better. Also I love the idea of honoring and giving prizes to those who are helping to make a difference in their community.
