I generally find myself to be quite optimistic. I try not to complain about things that aren’t worth complaining about. I believe that tomorrow will be a better day.
Isn’t that why we have tomorrow?
Some days, it seems that everything is draining my energy.
Whether it is my work on this blog, laundry, dishes, raising a toddler, cultivating a good life with my husband, or just plain hanging out. There are times where I don’t have any energy at all.
I avoid caffeine, so I can’t replenish my energy that way. I don’t like chemicals, so Red Bull and the like are out.
What are some healthy foods I could add to my diet that might stop everything from draining my energy?

I try to eat some fresh fruit to give me a natural energy boost. I love apples with a little peanut butter or a banana . I try to see what is in season to mix it up. Pineapple is also great. It has a sweet taste so it hits the spot better then a candy bar.
Apples with peanut butter is so good. I like to bake apples with cinnamon, too. Great suggestions for healthy snacks. Thanks for the suggestions!
Have a great weekend.
I’m trying to do a big glass of water and a walk outside (or doing the stairs inside if it’s lousy out). It works sometimes…
That’s a great idea! Getting the blood flowing does energize you – and a change of scenery can do wonders, too!
Citrus! Eat an orange or even just peel one and smell it. A glass of orange juice should make you feel as alert as a cup of coffee. Of course, as moms, sometimes the lack of sleep that just seems to be a part of our lives can really wipe you out and then nothing but a full sleep will help.
Really? Something so simple? I’m going to give that a try. Thanks so much for the tip!
Hmm I’m not entirely sure. I drink a lot of water and have caffeine occasionally. I’ve heard ginseng will wake you up.
I’ve been feeling really exhausted lately too.
I wonder if my exhaustion was related to the fact that I was coming down with the flu. I’ve been down and out since the day that I wrote this.
Since then, I’ve increased my cranberry juice consumption {I like the Simply Cranberry, it’s so tasty!}, started taking a multivitamin and eating a bit healthier. I’m nearly recovered from the flu. Still not 100% healthy, but feel like I’m on the right track. I did have a beer last night, and it tasted so very good. Made me appreciate the flavor after not having had liquor for two weeks.
I’ve been adding lemon, cucumber, mint, and ginger to my water pitcher, too. It’s a nice change from plain old water.
I love apple cider vinegar in the morning! A tablespoon in a tall glass of water is a wonderful energy booster for me. I get Bragg’s brand.
I think I may try that! I’ve heard great things about ACV for wellness, but never thought about it for energy. Thanks so much for the tip!
If you’re open to caffeine at all, then I HIGHLY recommend the V8+ Energy drinks. No chemicals, packed with B vitamins, and a full serving of fruits & veggies in each can for only 50 calories.
If you’re not, try taking sublingual B12 tabs. B12 is natural energy and you’ll notice it kicking in quickly (like 30 minutes!). I used to get shots for it, but now just take the tabs. When I forget to take them for a few days, I get all sluggish and tired!
I might try the B12. I was far too caffeinated for too many years, I like to avoid it as much as possible. I didn’t know they made a sublingual.
Thanks for the tip!
your lack of energy could possibly be from something you already have IN your diet. cut out all processed foods, white flour and white sugar. eat as ‘fresh and natural’ as possible.
Thanks for the tips, Terri. I don’t have much of that funky stuff in my diet…though I do have a weakness for bialys! Maybe I’ll cut those out for a bit and see how it goes.
🙂
