A Frozen Vanilla Chai Smoothie is the perfect fall breakfast. It captures all of the flavors of the season in a delicious breakfast drink. Made with Carnation Breakfast Essentials® powder drink mix and unsweetened almond milk, it’s packed with protein and 21 vitamins and minerals.
Breakfast is “the most important meal of the day” and often our favorite family time, but with busy and exciting schedules it can be difficult to make breakfast a priority. Carnation Breakfast Essentials® Powder Drink Mix ensures that everyone in our family is getting the nutrients that we need in the morning to make sure everyone gets a great start to the day.
Now that The Boy is a second grader, he has more school work to do at home. He has weekly spelling words, daily math assignments, and required reading. Finding a balance between his school work and family time can be a struggle. We’re trying something new and it’s been working great for our family. Each morning just before breakfast, The Boy chooses a book and reads to us. I love listening to him read and he’s becoming a stronger reader every day.
This added task to our morning routine has changed my approach to weekday breakfast. We love to enjoy breakfast together, and Carnation Breakfast Essentials® are a great way for us to do that. The Powder Drink Mix is available in a variety of flavors and can be used in your morning coffee or added to baked goods. I like to use it when making a Frozen Vanilla Chai Smoothie.
Making this frozen vanilla chai smoothie does require a bit of advance planning. Traditional chai tea is made with cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, and pepper. Because I don’t keep all of those spices on hand, I brew the chai tea using two store bought tea bags the night before.
Pour the unsweetened vanilla almond milk to the 8 ounce mark add two chai tea bags and heat in the microwave for two-minutes. Cover and refrigerate.
In the morning, remove the chai tea bags from the mason jar and pour the unsweetned chai tea almond milk into the cup of your blender. Look at the beautiful, rich color that has developed overnight. It is so flavorful, too.
Add one package of Carnation Breakfast Essentials® Classic French Vanilla and a handful of ice cubes and blend until well combined.
Pour into a mason jar, garnish with cinnamon and serve immediately.
Don’t be afraid to mix things up. Carnation Breakfast Essentials® is also available in Chocolate, Strawberry, Chocolate Malt or Dark Chocolate. You’ll also find Carnation Breakfast Essentials® Light Start™ in Chocolate or Vanilla.
When serving breakfast on busy weekdays, try to plan ahead and prep some items the night before. By prepping the chai tea almond milk, I’m saving myself precious time in the morning. Time that can be better spent with my family.
