Essential nutrients – including vitamins, minerals, essential fats, and amino acids – also known as micronutrients and macronutrients – are a necessity for healthy living. Because we live in a developed country, we consume these daily. Without thought. Can you imagine how different your life would be if you didn’t have these in your daily diet? You would be among the 2 BILLION people in this world that are under nourished.
One of the primary goals of Future Fortified is to ensure that pregnant women, new mothers and their young children receive those essential nutrients. We know that the best way to get your vitamins and nutrients is through the food that you eat. Unfortunately, in some parts of the world, that is not a realistic expectation. Future Fortified has created a cost-effective program to provide these nutrients: Home Nutrition Packets–the small single-serving packets filled with a combination of vitamins and minerals to sprinkle into a child’s or mom’s meal. At less than three cents a packet, this provides low-income mothers with an affordable way to ensure their families get essential nutrients they need.
Another wonderful element to the Home Nutrition Packets is that they are sustainable. The products are sourced and produced by local and regional suppliers, as well as larger national companies. However, Future Fortified still needs help in raising awareness about the product. Far too many mothers are unaware. Think about those children and women struggling with basic nutrition. Investment is needed to ensure families are aware that home nutrition packets are available and why they are both an affordable and easy to use way to improve the diets of their young children, putting them on a path to reach their full potential.
