Green Works Products: Helping Me Carve Out Time for Me

As a busy mom, I find it difficult to carve out time for me each day. When The Boy was younger, it was easier. Much easier. Nap time was my time. Now that he is four, naps are quickly becoming a thing of the past. During the daily “rest time,” he may sleep or just quietly play in his room. Thanks to Green Works, I no longer spend all of this quiet time cleaning. I am able to carve out time for me, too!

You know, cleaning the house isn’t glamorous, but it must be done. And doing it with fewer chemicals in a more eco-friendly manner is important to me. Once The Boy heads to his room for rest, I get to work cleaning our home. That leaves me with 40 to 60 minutes of time carved out for me. Was I just bragging? Yes. I was.

I talked about this bathroom recently, do you remember our affordable bathroom shelves? That quick project gave our average sized bathroom – outfitted with a pedestal sink (love!), a full shower and tub, and a toilet – a great new look. You may recall that the space also houses our front loading washer and dryer. We recently stacked them to make more space. Super awesome idea, now I need to build a wall unit to organize our laundry and cleaning supplies.

I like to start by first spraying the shower/tub with the Green Works all-purpose cleaner and then move on to the sink. After my sink is sparkling, I return to the shower/tub and give it a final wipe down. I do not clean our toilets during the day because they’re getting so much use. Each night before bed, I clean them. You put a lot of dirty stuff in your toilets every day, they really need to be cleaned more often than you think. Don’t you love how the spots are gone and my sink is shiny and clean!?!

My little confession here is that during nap time cleaning, I move a lot quicker than I typically would. I want to hurry and get through my chores to ensure there is time for me! One place that I used to spend too much time cleaning was our refrigerator. It is stainless steel. And stainless steel is a type A, neat freak’s nightmare. However, the Green Works all-purpose cleaner is great on STAINLESS STEEL! Oh my gosh. I’ve been chasing my tail around the kitchen trying to find a product safe for stainless steel that didn’t leave huge streaks. We have a water dispenser in our refrigerator, it tends to drip and run down the freezer door if you’re not watching it closely. The streaks left behind drive me crazy.

But look how beautiful and shiny my refrigerator is AFTER a little massage with the Green Works all-purpose cleaner. Love.

My range looks gorgeous too! I cleaned the interior glass on the oven with the Green Works all-purpose cleaner. All of the baked on gunk is gone. That streak of whatever it was wiped off easily and quickly.

It took me fifteen minutes to make our kitchen sparkle and shine like new. After a quick, yet quiet, trip up the stairs to check on The Boy it was time for me to relax and unwind.

Even though it’s summer and the weather is warm, I love a hot cup of decaf chai and a great magazine. Oddly, I usually wrap myself in a throw, too. I’m so thankful to have discovered the Green Works product line. My home is clean without the harsh use of chemicals, and I’m able to have a little bit of time for me. And that’s important.
