How many blogging goals are you focusing on this year? I have a long list of goals, and have divided them into quarterly tasks. One of my blogging goals for the first quarter of 2013 is to increase my local presence, both on-line and off-line. I am playing around with a few local marketing options.
Last year, I created a Facebook group to provide support to local Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket bloggers. Although our group is fairly small, I have reached a few more readers, but am interested in expanding my readership even further. This is a tough task because many people on Cape Cod are not familiar with what a blog is. Crazy, eh?
When I meet people and they ask what I do, I reply that I write an online publication focusing on parenting tips, recipes and crafts, and eco-friendly lifestyle choices. The conversation generally gets going quickly from there and I’m able to explain that the publication is called a blog. To me, it seems so odd that people living in my community would not know what a blog is!
I am not sure where to find these readers, but one thing I do know is that there are plenty of mothers living on Cape Cod that would enjoy reading my blog. Recently, the director of The Boy’s preschool asked me what I did with my time during the day. I took advantage of this opportunity to tell her about my blog and my goals for this year. She was very excited to hear that I had a blog, and asked what she could do to help me promote it! It is possible that I will write a monthly article which will be included in the school’s newsletter. I am excited about sharing my blog with other local, like-minded parents.
