Living on Cape Cod during the summer months makes me the envy of many of my “off Cape” friends. Their vision is that we just party, hang out at the beach, eat lobster, and go boating all day every day. I wish that were the case, especially the part about the lobster! My summer weeks are spent like most of you. I grocery shop, drop off and pick up dry cleaning, do laundry, clean, and cook. Glamorous, I know.
It is true that most of our weekends are spent at the beach. This summer, I am hoping that we’ll spend a bit more time boating with friends. A friend of mine still has the “little Boston Whaler” that her dad purchased for her and her sister way, way, way back when we were in high school. The boat has been around forever, yet happily totes families to and fro.
Spending quality time with my family is a priority of mine, and I love that we’re able to do that both on, off, and in the water. Since we don’t own our own boat, we’ve often talked about getting one. But, The Texan and I both agree that the expense of owning one is more than we want to take on right now. Whenever we talk about something fun, I research it.
A great resource to learn more about boating is DiscoverBoating.com. It’s full of great information about all aspects of boating. You could rent a boat or learn more about boating on a budget. I spent a lot of time on that page! I took away some great ideas for when that day comes.
There’s a great list of boats that are best for water sports. I used to love water skiing and tubing when I was a teen. It’s been a while since I’ve participated in either activity, I’m sure that a bit of coordination has been lost along the way. Should we decide on a boat, I would want one that had the ability to pull a skier or two!
DiscoverBoating.com is a wonderful resource for families planning their summer vacations and more!
