The day before my husband leaves for a business trip is generally spent making sure he has all of his “stuff”. It’s been my experience that guys need more “stuff” to leave home then woman do. At least, my guy does. And I love that about him.
On Sunday, we talked about his “stuff”. Did he have pants? Did he have socks? Did he have his workout clothes? What about a razor and shaving cream? Did he have all of his electronic devices – AND their appropriate charging mechanisms?
Yep. He had it all. Everything he needed. And more, I’m sure. {Crap, I hope he had his cuff links!}
On Monday he headed out on his business trip. The third in four weeks.
He wasn’t gone four seconds before I thought of a few things I should have asked him to do before he left.
- Change the batteries in The Boy’s LeapPad Explorer Tablet. They haven’t died (yet), but they are a pain to change.
- Carry the laundry basket downstairs. With my left elbow still recovering from last month’s surgery, I have trouble carrying the basket myself. Not because of the weight, mostly because of my lack of coordination with my right arm. Hmm…this may have nothing to do with the elbow surgery!
- Move the trash can to the end of the driveway for our weekly pick up. It is awkward, and stinky.
- Fill the water reservoir in the humidifier. Another awkward chore, though not stinky.
- OPEN A BOTTLE OF WINE. Yep, the ol’ elbow is preventing me from opening a bottle. Thankfully, I can open a beer. Because who knows where I’d be without Stella now!
Are there things you forget to ask your husband to do before he heads out for a trip? Does anyone want to swing by and help me with the wine??
