Researching my family tree is something that I have always been interested in doing. Unfortunately, I haven’t made the time for it, until recently.
In late winter, I started gathering bits of information from here and there. Now, I have a great receptacle for them – a family tree on Ancestry.com.
After inputting the information that my family members had given to me, I used the search features provided by Ancestry.com to dig deeper into the past. I started with my father’s lineage because I had the most information. I was able to search all the way back to Portugal on my father’s paternal side, three generations. One of the most common names in that branch of the tree is the middle name we gave to The Boy! It also happens to be The Texan’s middle name as well as my dad’s, but it’s cool to see that the name has meaning to both sides of our tree and back so many generations.
My paternal grandmother’s family hailed from Nova Scotia, Canada. I was able to trace back five generations! Isn’t that amazing. The women in my tree had such beautiful names: Grace and Nora are two names that I’ve always loved. Now it is clear why they speak to me.
