Early in the summer I decided it was time to ease back into running. [I do that often, don’t I?!] Everything has been going well. The steps are turning into miles. The aches are slowly disappearing. Like the hours of sunshine. As I work to keep myself focused on fitness, I’ve been thinking about running essentials for women. What do I really need to have a good run besides water?
These running essentials for women are a few things I know I can’t be without, I hope you’ll find them helpful too!
1| Comfortable, breathable clothing. I don’t know about you, but I get hot when I run. My face turns red, I sweat. It can be a little uncomfortable. That’s why I choose lightweight, breathable clothing. Moisture wicking is great, especially for the winter months.
2| All the fun gear. I use an app to track my running route, so taking my phone with me is a must. I also wear the headphones so that people don’t talk to me while I’m running. [That’s weird, I know. Some may even think it’s rude.] I also wear an identification bracelet that has my name, age, The Texan’s telephone number, and my dad’s telephone number – if I end up injured and cannot speak, hopefully the first responders will be able to reach my loved ones. Sunglasses are a must for most runs, especially in the morning as the sun is coming up over the tree line.
3| Bladder Protection It’s not fun to talk about, but many women experience bladder leakage when running. The new Poise* Impressa* Bladder Supports are designed to help stop leaks before they start! They’re no absorbent, and come in three sizes. So, once you find that one that works for you, no more leaky bladders for up to 8 hours! They’re inserted like a tampon and gently lift the urethra providing added support to help stop the leaks!
Offered in three sizes, you’re certain to find one that prevents leaking for you. Start with size 1, if you experience leaks, move up to size 2 and then to size 3. Be sure to print out this great coupon before you head to your neighborhood Walmart to purchase them.
4| Good quality running shoes I’m a firm believer that the shoes you wear should be cute, but they should also fit well and serve you well. I recently had an assessment done at a local running store and found that the shoes I was wearing were too small! Can you believe it?! My feet are much happier now and it’s easy for me to log the miles.
These running essentials for women are just a few things that I refuse to go running without.
