As I sit here, wondering what to write, what there is that I have to say, I keep thinking back to my first Shaklee 180 post. The one where I said:
I hope that if you’re reading this, you’ll find some inspiration in my story. You see, I’m not that different from you. I am a mother and a wife. I am also adjusting to a few extra pounds that have snuck up on me over the last four years. These extra pounds are making me uncomfortable. I don’t like how my clothes fit; instead of buying a larger size, I am committing to getting healthy and losing weight.
Have I inspired you on this journey? I shared my motivating moments, my frustrations, and how I talked myself out of a funk. Today, I have to say that I feel healthier, stronger, and more confident.
This six month journey has been amazing. I found that when I focus less on the numbers on the scale and the inches on the measuring tape, that I am more inclined to make healthier choices. When I first started the Shaklee 180 program, I suddenly became an obsessive weigher. After NOT having weighed myself regularly for years, I began jumping on the scale daily. That’s a horrible thing to do, by the way, whether you are actively trying to lose weight or you’re just monitoring your weight.
I have more clarity now, and how I define being healthy is different too. I used to think that your health was measured strictly by the number or the scale. While that number directly correlated with my “happiness factor” six months ago, I’ve learned along the way that you need to be happy with the person you are inside. That sounds cliche, I know. But, it is true.
As the weight bar on the scale was moving to the left, I was feeling happier – and stopped jumping on the scale so often. Less is more – but in my case less was less. I was losing more and feeling better by NOT focusing on those pesky numbers. I focused on the fuel that I was putting in my body – less carbohydrates, more vegetables, less refined sugars, more lean proteins. Each time I snuck the carbs back into my diet, I could feel the bloating start. Despite my love for crusty bread, it may not be the best thing for me. That makes me feel sad. And, will I miss it dearly.
Here’s the moment y’all have been waiting for…my BIG REVEAL!
Remember my before photos??
Here’s my current measurements if you’re really curious:
Weight: 111
Waist: 25.9
Bust: 29.70
Hips: 31.7
Thighs: 20.0
Arms: 9.7
And where I was when I began the program in March:
Weight: 125
Waist: 32.5
Bust: 34.75
Hips: 38
Thighs: 27.4
Arms: 11
Another look at this morning:
I still want to tone my thighs, and once schools starts again next week (hooray!), I will have more time to work on me. August was a tough month adjusting to The Boy being home all day every day, and my in-laws visiting. It’s easier for me to focus on me and my wellness when I’m following my regular routine. I am looking forward to September – it will be the first time in three months that we don’t have any visitors coming!
