You may remember that The Texan and I took a nice weekend trip to Maine in early November. It was wonderful. The foliage was just coming in, the weather was crisp and refreshing, and it wasn’t very crowded! We enjoyed our time reconnecting with each other, shopping, and enjoying great tasting Maine seafood.
Little did we know that back home in our basement, our water heating system was having a wonderful time too. As it was leaking water all over our basement floor. Ever had a flooded basement? Yeah, you know how awesome it is. And, it’s an even better discovery when you’ve just driven home 3 hours from a relaxing adults-only getaway.
The Texan got to work quickly using his beloved shop vac to suck up the water. Meanwhile, I was looking for a plumber that would be available on short notice to replace the broken pipe. Thankfully, I found one. He did a great job, and didn’t leave a mess – earning bonus points from me!
You can imagine our surprise when just a few days later The Texan opened the basement door to discover a flooded basement AGAIN! After quickly investigating, we discovered that it was the drain hose from the washing machine. It had come loose at some point and sprayed water from a “Super” load of laundry all over the place. What a mess!
To this day we still joke about having the cleanest basement floor in town!
