It would be so inconsiderate of me not to mention the tragic events which occurred in Japan late last week. I haven’t blogged since, so please excuse me for being late. Certainly puts things in perspective and makes you realize that getting upset at the moron who pulls up to the toll booth in front of you and doesn’t have his/her toll money ready just doesn’t matter. (When I was a work-at-the-office wife, it was a frequent event in my life…until I invested in a toll transponder, but that is another story. For another post.)
Take a moment to remember the lives that were taken so quickly and those who survived this horrific ordeal. The children with no parents. The parents with no children.
In the days since the Earthquake and Tsunami, dozens of relief agencies have stepped up to provide aid to the survivors. I’ve been wondering how we can help. Especially the children. A few organizations that you can donate to are below. (Be smart, do your research. I cannot be held responsible if you choose to donate to an organization which turns out to be a scam.)
Operation Sweet Dreams – Donate via PayPal to this California based organization to provide pajamas and toothbrushes to children in Japan.
Texting – Simply text REDCROSS to 90999. Each text will provide $10 towards the American Red Cross‘s efforts. You will be charged $10 on your wireless bill.
Facebook – You can donate between $10 and $500 through Causes on Facebook to help the American Red Cross‘s efforts.
Embed Some Code -The Hello Bar places a message at the top of your website encouraging your visitors to donate. Sign up with the invite code “helpjapan” and you will receive the code you need to embed your own Hello Bar to get donations.
Did you donate to another organization to help the people of Japan? Let me know and I’ll add your charity/organization to the list.
