As I was changing our sheets yesterday, I began to wonder how often other people change their sheets. It turns out, I am not the only one wondering about this either. Parent Palace featured an article on this very topic on Monday! How’s that for coincidence?
I probably don’t need to tell you that it is so important to regularly change your sheets because as you’re sleeping – dreaming of tropical vacations and shopping sprees – your body is shedding dead skin cells. You should already know that. But what you might not know is thatdust mites love dead skin cells. Dust mites are a leading cause of allergies and asthma, too. Still wondering why your family suffers from allergies?
It’s recommended to change your sheets at least once per week to keep dust mites at bay. If you sweat at night you should consider changing them more often. {Also, if the sheets become soiled, they should be changed right away.} It’s also recommended to wash them in warm to hot water, too, to keep allergens down and kill all of those creepy crawlies. This bedding by Kate Spade wouldn’t be nearly as gorgeous with dust mites and bed bugs crawling all over it!
When I was single, I’d change the sheets once every five or six days. For three days, I’d sleep on one side, then switch. Now that I’m married, I change our sheets every three days. To me, nothing beats sleeping on crisp, clean sheets. And, I’m fortunate enough to have an ample supply of sheets so that I’m not constantly washing and folding king sized sheets! I’m curious, how often do you change your sheets?
