Do you remember the Blueberry Kale Smoothie recipe from a few weeks ago? That’s the perfect breakfast smoothie. Just the right amount of fruitiness and Kale to make you feel like you’re having something special.
Special is fine for breakfast, but sometimes sinful is better.
Sinfully delicious, Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie with Kale
When you think of chocolate and peanut butter together, does your brain automatically go to peanut butter cups? Mine does. And that is exactly what this Chocolate Peanut Butter Kale Smoothie tastes like!
This is quickly becoming my lunch smoothie of choice. It is oh so delicious.
For this 260 calorie smoothie, I used 8 ounces of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder mix, 1 tablespoon of powdered peanut butter, and a handful of the chopped Kale. Once that whirls around the blender for a few minutes, add ice cubes. I use 6. That’s the perfect amount for me, you may like more or less.
The Kale that I used in this recipe was already chopped, love not having to wash a knife, but if you must then you must, I guess. Be sure to look for the chopped kale at your grocer!
Since writing my last smoothie recipe, I’ve upgraded to a Ninja blender. (Remember, my old blender was missing one of it’s four blades!) Holy Power People! If you make smoothies, juices, or margaritas, you really need to consider buying one of these. It pulverizes any seeds that may be in your fruit, the kale, and ice cubes. All of the smoothies that I have made with the Ninja are creamy and thick. What an amazing machine. I am thrilled to have purchased one!
What’s your favorite smoothie recipe? Do you have a favorite blender, too?
Kiersten @ Oh My Veggies says
I love this! I’ve been making green smoothies for lunches or afternoon pick-me-ups a lot lately, but I bet this one tastes a lot more indulgent than the ones I’ve been having. ๐

The powdered peanut butter adds 45 calories, so it’s a much better choice than regular ol’ peanut butter. The brand that I use is organic, too. Hooray for that. The downfall to the powdered PB, is that there’s only 4g protein…so you would need to use a protein powder – otherwise you’d be starving!
Let me know if you do end up giving it a try!

Totally agree that sometimes sinful is better! Chocolate and peanut butter is my favorite combo. I’ve never had kale before, so this would be a great experiment.
Emily says
I love Kale. It’s so good for you too, adding it to your smoothies is a great way to sneak in a leafy green!
Tiffany Cruz says
This actually sounds like something I’d like to try. Sounds filling and satisfying.
Emily says
So amazingly tasty! You can’t taste the kale, as long as you blend it well enough you won’t feel it either.
Erica says
So glad I’m seeing this post. I’m actually going to buy a new blender tomorrow. I’ve gone through two blenders in less than a year. Can’t seem to find one that works well without spending a ton of money. Ninja is one of the ones on my list that I am considering.
As far as smoothies go, I love just a basic smoothie with milk and frozen berries ๐
Emily says
I love, love, love the Ninja! My husband & I both have smoothies for breakfast & lunch. This blender has been a lifesaver! It pulverizes seeds like nobody’s business. I chose the one that had the 2 single serve containers so that we’re not waiting for the other to finish with the blender cup. It’s worked out well for us.

I love shakes! This sounds yummy!
Ange says
This looks delicious, but I’m a chicken and Kale scares me, can you taste the Kale at all? If not, I’m sold!!

Did you try this yet?! As I mentioned on twitter, you can’t taste the Kale! I made another one for lunch today. So delicious.
Ange says
I had it for lunch!! I was so excited, I couldn’t taste the Kale at all, thank you so much!! You have certainly helped my health, like I said green things scare so I’m happy I have found a way to get something good into my body!!
Emily says
Hooray! So happy to hear that you tried it. Hiding kale in a smoothie is a great way to boost your vitamins without tasting it!
Ange says
Yes!! Any other veggie hidden recipes you have please let me know!!

My girls are really into smoothies, and my husband drinks tons of protein shakes so a blender is a must have! We normally add whatever fruit is in season… love the idea of adding Kale to pb!
Dawn Lopez says
Yes please. This is such a yummy idea! Thanks so much for sharing it, I know what I am making tomorrow!
Maria says
Great way to add more health into your diet. Yum!!
Ellen Christian says
I tend to go with fruit smoothies like strawberry banana.
Emily says
This one certainly is rich, I couldn’t drink it in the morning. If you like fruity smoothies, you might want to try my Blueberry Kale Smoothie!
Mallery says
YUM!! This is being added to my list of smoothies and juices!
Emily says
Hooray! I hope you enjoy it! I liked it so much, I had one today for lunch.
Laurel @Let's Go on a Picnic! says
How would it turn out if you used non powdered ingredients?
Emily says
I’m sure if you opted to use traditional peanut butter it would taste delicious. Keep in mind that peanut butter has about 160 calories per serving, the powdered peanut butter has only 45. So, if you’re watching calories and your weight, but still want that delicious peanut butter flavor, the organic powdered peanut butter is a great choice!
My husband makes his breakfast smoothie with almond butter, chocolate almond milk, chocolate whey protein powder, and frozen raspberries. He says that it’s delicious that way!
candice says
Great way to sneak in a veggie!
Brandy Myers says
I want a Ninja so bad for things like this. We would have smoothies everyday because I can hide things in them that would be better for my family, if only I had a better blender.
Emily says
I almost chose the Vitamix over the Ninja, but I couldn’t justify the cost. The Ninja is amazing – it really chops things up to the point that they’re pulverized. It’s worth the money!
Brandy Myers says
I caved and bought a Ninja. I am loving it! Thanks for the “extra” push in my decision.
Emily says
Congrats! I absolutely love mine!
Lolli S says
nothing better than chocolate peanut butter and kale ๐ i love making smoothies with kale!
Emily says
I know, me too! I put Kale in all my smoothies, regardless of what “flavor” it is!
Lena says
Would never think of putting Kale and chocolate, but it does look very nutritious
Emily says
It tastes wonderful! And, the kale is hidden so all you taste is chocolate and peanut butter!
Angela says
I never would have dreamed of combining these 3 ingredients! I’ll have to try adding kale to more things.
Emily says
I add Kale to all of the smoothies that I make. It’s a great way to get a few additional veggies into your diet, and by blending them you don’t taste the kale. It’s a win-win!
Emily says
It’s delicious! I had (another) one today for lunch.
Ken says
I looked at a ninja but went with the Nutri-Bullet and couldn’t be happier. It liquefies everything and so convenient to clean it is ridiculous.
Emily says
Happy that you found something to work for you, Ken! We’re super happy with our Ninja!
