Cooking. I love cooking. But cooking is an energy sucker.
You find a great recipe. Read it. Convince yourself you can do it.
Try making the recipe. It takes much longer than the time frame indicated on the recipe.
Why?
Because you have to follow the directions the first go around. Once you’ve become familiar with the recipe, you can tweak it until it works for you.
That happened to me last night. That’s why this post didn’t get written on Wednesday, I had zero energy left.
My Instagram friends saw what we ate for dinner. Did you see, too?

I saw what you ate for dinner last night and it looked delightful. Sorry to hear it sucked away all your energy though :/

The recipe had too many steps…nearly 3 hours worth of work for stuffed peppers. Stupid. And stupid me for making the recipe! Excited to work on some modifications and share it soon!

I understand how cooking can be an energy sucker. I love to cook, although with a house full of picky eaters i normally end up cooking 2 or 3 different things on any given day. I get tired of eating the same meals over and over, so I will fix mine and the hubbys dinner earlier in the day, and do the kids’ when it is time for dinner. I will be glad when they kids are old enough to cook for themselves!

That always happens to me I always take longer than I should.

Definitely cooking takes up a lot of time – that, and doing all the dishes afterward.

This post cracks me up. The other day I said to my husband “why do the kids have to eat everyday”. I was so tired after working all day, the last thing I wanted to do was make dinner. I just wanted to have a bowl of cereal and go to bed.

I use the crock pot quite often during the week! I’ve learned that trying a new recipe should be reserved for the weekend when we’re not packed full of activity.
