I wrote about feeling nervous during job interviews and I’ve started to think about how I got through the multiple rounds of interviews.
Which coping skills did I use then? The same that I use today, of course! When I’m feeling nervous, I direct my thoughts to something that makes me happy. Like roller coasters and margaritas. (Though not necessarily together!) Riding roller coasters together was something The Texan and I loved to do when we lived in Orlando. We’d often stop for a margarita (or two!) while in the park. Those were such fun times!
Now that we’re all grown up, and have a little one to look after, it’s much harder to sneak away and ride roller coasters. But those are memories that I often call upon – whether at a job interview or not – to relax me and offer me comfort.
What about you? How to do cope when you’re nervous?

When I’m nervous I cope by taking a deep breath, and reminding myself to “just do it” and get through whatever I have to do I’m nervous about.

I chant – this is only one moment, this is only one moment, this is only one moment. By the time I’m done I usually forget why I’m nervous

I hate I mean hate to go to the dr. My blood pressure is always high when I am there. I take deep breaths and think calm thoughts. I also try to get the 1 st appointment of the day so I can be in and out fast.
