Every parent wants their child to succeed at whatever makes them happiest. I hope that attending college will make The Boy happy and that he will enjoy his experiences there. The Texan and I don’t want him to have to worry about the financial piece of the puzzle, and by the time he attends it will be a huge piece! He already has a college fund set up – and we save all of the money he receives as gifts. The Gerber Life College Plan is another way to help save for college.
The Gerber Life College Plan launched in July 2009 and was designed to help busy parents save for tomorrow – safely and easily. With guaranteed growth, life insurance protection, flexibility, and fixed monthly premiums payments, this program is thte smart choice for your child’s future.
Recently, Gerber Life partnered with Reading is Fundamental to launch Project Open Book. To participate in this program, all you have to do is upload a photo of your child into a photo mosaic on the Gerber Life Facebook page. You’ll be entered to win a $1,000 VISA gift card too! For every photo uploaded, Gerber Life will donate $1 to RIF, the nation’s largest children’s literacy non-profit which provides books to children in underserved communities across the country. Project Open Book will last through February 13, with a goal of donating $10,000!

Dear Emily,
On behalf of Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), thank you for supporting Project Open Book. All the money raised through our partnership with Gerber Life helps us provide new books to the kids who need them most. In low-income neighborhoods in the U.S., there’s only one book for every 300 children. For many RIF kids, their RIF book is their only book.

Meg,
Thank you for your comment.
It makes me so sad to think of children without books, particularly when I remember my own childhood full of books and now watch my son enjoying many books each day. I hope that this campaign will continue to raise awareness and get books to those children who need them.
Best,
Emily
