Remember when your baby was in diapers? I barely do. It’s true what they say, time passes so quickly. Before you know it, you’re packing lunch for your kiddo to take to Kindergarten. And, it stinks. Most of the day I stay busy working, but some days I am watching the clock like a hawk waiting until I can FINALLY go pick him up. Wednesday’s are my favorites because they release the kiddos an hour early.

While I’m sitting here watching the clock, I think about my friend with her fairly new baby…and how she has no time to watch the clock. Her sweet baby girl will turn one in November. There is NO time for Mama to look at the clock, much less read a book with a nice cup of tea. As I thought back to that time, I know that it would have been great if people still dropped off diapers and quit giving us crappy toys that made lots of noise!

That gave me an idea. Why not do something nice for her? Create something to celebrate her daughter, help out with the growing expense of diapers, and encourage her to carve out some “me time” even if it’s only a few minutes each day.

Cute face on the packaging, right? I added the diapers to a plastic tub along with baby wash, a copy of Charlotte’s Web, some chai tea for mom (my favorite!), and this handmade sign.

The sign was easy to make. I selected the design from my Silhouette library and resized it on my Mac.

I loaded my vinyl into the machine and set it to cut. If you don’t have a Silhouette, you can create a stencil using freezer paper, or purchase the letters at your neighborhood craft store.

Once you weed the design – that’s “craftspeak” for removing the pieces you don’t need – you apply the vinyl to your canvas.

Grab your favorite craft brushes and get to work painting. I like these sponge brushes, they’re often on sale for 10 cents a piece. I use one for each color and don’t feel badly about tossing them after I am finished.

Waiting for the paint to dry is the hardest part.

Once it finally dries, you’re ready to pull off the vinyl and gift it!
