The countdown to Christmas is on folks! And many people are scrambling for a last minute gift idea. Here is an easy recipe for Homemade Vanilla Sugar that is sure to please everyone on your list!

How to Make Homemade Vanilla Sugar
Gather your supplies: a mason jar, granulated sugar, and a vanilla bean.
Start by splitting the vanilla bean with a sharp knife.

To the mason jar, add one cup of sugar and the split vanilla bean. Top with another cup of sugar. Close the jar tightly, let set for a week before using. Instruct the recipient to shake the jar every so often, and let them know that they can add additional sugar to the container to replenish what they’ve used.
This homemade vanilla sugar can be used everywhere that you’d use traditional granulated sugar. I like it in coffee, in baking recipes, and on grapefruit {that’s my favorite way to enjoy it}. Homemade vanilla sugar makes a great hostess gift all year long! Don’t wait until Christmas to make it.

Mmm, this sounds like it would be great in coffee! What an easy but thoughtful gift. 🙂
This looks like a super easy present and would be pretty with a gorgeous ribbon bow on the jar!
It was very easy, and comes together quickly. Perfect project to do with older children!
I love the taste/smell of vanilla! Thanks for the great idea!
I hope you try it. I’ve been using mine on ruby red grapefruits. It’s so good. Tomorrow, we’re going to make cookies and I’m thinking of using it in that recipe. (But that might deplete my supply!)
