Y’all know that I love the beach. We spend every weekend basking in the sun, enjoying delicious grilled treats, refreshing watermelon, and playing in the warmish water off Cape Cod Bay. One thing that I don’t love about being out there away from it all is the my cell phone battery life doesn’t last very long and there is no electricity for a phone charger.
I use my phone quite a bit at the beach to take photos of The Boy, update my Facebook status, and check in with all of you! It is also important to me that my phone have a good charge in case we need it for an emergency. Anything could happen on the beach – from shark sightings to first aid issues. I would feel more comfortable knowing that my phone was always ready to go with a full charge.
We’ve been talking about purchasing a camper so that we’re able to stay overnight on the beach. This won’t happen until the “off season” when people are eager to sell and we can (hopefully) grab one at a low price. If we do invest in a camper for the beach, I’m going to need a solar phone charger to keep my worries at bay!
Does your phone lose power at the beach? How do you manage it?

I wish I went to the beach often…well we go to lakes all the time but my phone doesn’t really die that fast because it isn’t a smart phone. We still have an old brick. What beach do you go to? We live in the south and only go to Myrtle Beach once a year.

We go to Sandy Neck Beach – we pack our SUV & drive out for the day. I think the problem with the phone is that the signal is weak, so that drains the battery!
That is the problem for sure. I usually shut my phone off and then power it back up when I need to make a call at the lake or check messages. When my phone is on roaming or looking for a signal it dies fast.
