The Boy started Kindergarten last week and tonight we’re headed off to Open House where his teacher will tell us her plans for the school year. I am excited to see what is in store for us and appreciate all that she’s done getting her classroom ready for our children. I’m going to bring her a teacher appreciation gift and encourage her help spread the word about products that support the Labels for Education program.
As a child, I can remember giving my teacher’s small gifts during the school year. The gifts ranged from a shiny red apple to potted plants. I attended a small, well-funded public school. Times were different then, school supplies weren’t shared and class sizes were well under 20 students per teacher. My Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Jensen, was a rock star. I have so many wonderful memories of her. She took us to her sheep farm and taught us how wool was made, helped us draw giant paper skyscrapers, taught us to be good friends and kind to one another, and encouraged us in so many ways.
I want The Boy to have the same love for school that I did. I hope that he feels comfortable and safe at school. Kindergarten sets the foundation for schooling, and we’re feeling great about how the school year started off. To show Ms. Jane our appreciation for her work so far, I created a personalized fruit-infusion water bottle and then put together this fun kit full of treats and supplies. I think she’ll love it.
Some days I’m craving salty treats, while other days I like a sweet treat. I think everyone is like that. Even Ms. Jane. Popcorn and dark chocolate Milanos were the perfect choices to include.
You want some popcorn now, don’t you. Sorry. {Be sure to clip the Labels for Education UPC symbol off the bottom of the package you buy!}
Because she’s a teacher, I included some tools to help her do her job. I love Bic brand pens, pencils, and marker. Especially the fine tip markers. Bic brand is a Labels for Education participator – see, it’s not all food items!
The Labels for Education program is an easy way for members of the school and the community to work together to “earn free stuff” for school. By purchasing and collecting bottle caps and UPC codes from over 2500 participating products, the school earns points which can be redeemed for arts, athletics, and academics merchandise. It’s a fairly effortless way to give back to your school, many of the participating products are likely items that you’re buying already. The best part? You can find Labels for Education items at grocery stores, office supply stores, and other major retailers.
There are great coupons available on the Labels for Education website and this year, Labels for Education is hosting a sweepstakes where 1000 schools will win $1000! Be sure to check that out on the website, too!
Does your school participate in the Labels for Education program?
Great teacher gift! Our middle school doesn’t collect labels but we still snip them and take them to our old grade school!
He is SO handsome & that’s such a good gift idea!
Super cute teacher gift! Especially adding the Milanos! I’ll have to keep an eye out for the labels.

My children’s school spoke with them about Labels for Education, and encouraged them to be on the look-out. Now my children are checking packages in the store to see if they have labels. It’s very sweet that that want to help out their school.
That is a great teachers gift. I know those little bags are a huge help in our class.
I so Love gifts like this–something that teachers can really use and enjoy–very nice idea! thanks for sharing–hope your son has a wonderful year!
Thank you! I’m hoping for a wonderful year, too. We’re off to a great start.
What an awesome basket! And your little guy is oh-so-cute!
Such a fun basket, I love it!
Emily, I love the basket idea and I need to do this for our kindergarten teacher and her assistant. I know they would absolutely love it. Plus, our assistant is the Labels Coordinator at the school. 🙂 #client
