Have you struggled with weight loss? Most people do. For some, the weight seems to effortlessly drop off. A friend of mine struggled with being over weight for years. He recently had lap band surgery and has lost over 140 pounds! I am so proud of him for making the choice to become healthier.
He and his wife asked me what I do to keep myself at my healthy weight, and I thought I would share these tips with you as well:
- Drink water daily. Not one glass, eight {at least}.
- Eat more fruit.
- Eat more vegetables.
- Avoid red meat. Or eat only a small portion once per week.
- Eat more fish. Be sure to enjoy a fish that is high in Omega-3 at least twice a week!
- Limit sweets. {Yep, even those pesky cookies.}
- Limit your alcohol consumption. While having a few cocktails is relaxing, doing it every day adds calories, and adding calories is adding pounds.
- Do not eat the samples at the grocery store or the mall food court. There are unnecessary calories in those!
- Exercise more. One easy way to get a little more movement into your life is to park your car far, far away from entrance to the shop, doctor’s office, train depot, etc. The extra steps add up.
Once you start eating healthier foods, you won’t want those cookies everyday. Your body will start to crave fruit, I’m not kidding!
