With the rising cost of everything except for air these days, I have started making my own salad dressing. Years ago, I used to make my own, but then got sucked into purchasing all of those fancy dressings at the grocery store. I still purchase Caesar, but make simple dressings regularly. This is my go-to dressing.
What You’ll Need:
Oil – any kind will do, but I prefer olive oil.
Salt
Pepper
Oregano
Basil
Garlic
Parmesean Cheese
A container to mix and store your amazing dressing! I use an old jelly jar, although a mason jar would work great, too!
What You’ll Do:
Remove a few garlic cloves from the head. Slice them into a few thick chunks, then drop them into your container.
Add as much, or as little, of the other ingredients as your taste buds crave.
Tighten the lid and shake! Really, really shake it.
{Excuse my boring finger nails, I haven’t bothered to polish them this week.} It tastes best if it has had a few hours to let the flavors develop. Typically, I make mine in the afternoon and use it that evening. Keeps for at least a week in the refrigerator, that is, if you don’t eat salad!
The beauty of this dressing is that you can add anything you wish to it. Like it spicy? Add some crushed red pepper flakes. Want it sweet? Add a tablespoon of extra fine sugar. Making a salad with mandarin oranges, add some juice to the dressing! The possibilities are endless.
What is your favorite type of dressing to make?

This sounds delicious! I really haven’t found a store bought dressing I enjoy so I’m going to try this! Thanks
Thanks, Gena. It really is tasty – and much better for you than store bought. Some day I’m going to tackle Caesar dressing, I just haven’t had the courage to do it yet!
