It’s hard to believe I am about to share this awesome back to school teacher gift idea for maple toasted almonds, but I couldn’t wait! I hear that the children in Hawaii go back to school at the end of July, so I’m not that early. But, ask my neighbor and she’ll tell you that I’m crazy for talking about back to school – her kiddos just finished on Tuesday. Yes, two days ago!
When I think about back to school supplies, I generally think of pencils, notebooks, and markers. This year, we don’t have to bring any supplies (!) so I’m focusing on a practical gift for The Boy’s teacher. It takes a special person to devote their time to teaching our children and helping them become productive members of society.
I also know that as a woman, it’s tough to carve out a few moments alone. Time to relax and just be still is rare for teachers. Often, teachers take their work home and, some even miss out on their own children’s activities because they’re spending time with our children.
Because I want to show her how much I appreciate her, I made her a basket of goodies to pamper herself with. When I take a few moments to pamper myself, especially when period symptoms are sneaking up on me, I always feel better. In the basket, I’m giving her a box of U by Kotex’s Cleanwear® Pads, BIC razors, EOS lip balm, and delicious maple toasted almonds.
The items were easy to spot at my local Walgreen’s. I like shopping there because of the Balance Rewards Program. It’s a free program which enables you to earn points just for shopping. This month, when you buy $15 of participating U by Kotex, EOS, and BIC products you earn 3,000 Balance Reward Points!
The combination of the sweet maple syrup and kosher salt is sure to curb all of your cravings!
What You’ll Need
One cup of Almonds, roasted and unsalted
2 tablespoons of pure maple syrup {not imitation}
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
1 teaspoon of real vanilla extract {not imitation}
1 – 2 teaspoons of Kosher Salt
What You’ll Do
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper or spray with non-stick spray.
In a medium bowl, combine all of the ingredients together.
Use a rubber spatula to mix thoroughly.
Arrange almonds on the baking sheet in a single layer. Cook for 20 minutes, turning them over half way through the cooking time.
Allow the almonds to come to room temperature before serving. {Good luck with that, I’m sure I ate half off them while checking to see if they were cool!} Notice how sticky and gooey they are. Yum!
You can make this salty and sweet snack, too, in under 30 minutes!

My mouth is literally watering right now, those almonds look DELICIOUS. I love to follow something sweet up with something salty, but when they’re combined, it’s an even better deal. Party in my mouth! I survive my cycle with a good magazine and some time alone. I actually can’t eat sugar anymore, so I had to give up my chocolate cycle habit, but I don’t miss it when I’ve got a huge glass of water handy. #client
