Reading to my The Boy is one of my favorite ways to end a long day. Each night we share a different story after talking about the things we enjoyed about our day – and the things that weren’t so great. I was excited to share Over the Moon: The Broadway Lullaby Project with him.
Over the Moon: The Broadway Lullaby Project is both a timeless benefit effort and a uniquely compelling, multimedia experience. The ambitious project — which incorporates a 2-CD, 26-song set; a lavishly-illustrated hardcover book of 17 songs from the album; a corresponding e-book encompassing the entire collection; and a documentary film and web series — gathers many of contemporary musical theatre’s greatest composers and vocalists, as well as illustrators, all of whom have donated their talent to deliver an emotionally affecting set of new lullabies, some written specifically for this project.
The beautifully illustrated book and accompanying CD features an assortment of seventeen lullabies to soothe and comfort your little one. Each illustration in the book includes numerous details and speaks to the meaning of the lullaby. As I was reading the book, it was easy to see that the artists really understood the meaning of each lullaby.
In our family, we don’t follow traditional guidelines often. That carries over to the songs that we sing. I don’t know the words to many of the popular lullabies, when The Boy was an infant I used to sing him the National Anthem to quiet him down. Although I’ve expanded my repertoire over the years, this CD would have been a great help to me as a new mom!
This project is a collaboration of some of the greatest Broadway stage performers, amazing jazz musicians, and world-class composers and illustrators, all to benefit breast cancer research and support. It’s important to me to know that my purchases are going to help fight something so big. I hope you’ll consider purchasing a copy for your family, or to give as a gift.
Disclosure: I received a copy of Over the Moon: The Broadway Lullaby Project in order to facilitate my review. Regardless, I only endorse products I feel my readers will enjoy. My opinions and views are my own and have not been influenced by the sponsor. This post contains affiliate links.

That sounds like a great package. Not just a book but so much more. We like to read at night too. My 4 year olds book of choice this week is a science book about the human body. She wants it read every night! 🙂
