As women, wives, and mothers we are often busy taking care of other people’s needs. We make sure that our children are fed, clothed and cuddled. We make sure that our husbands are fed, clothed and snuggled. We take the kids to soccer, ballet, dance, and the tutor. We do the grocery shopping, pick up the dry cleaning, and mail gifts and greeting cards. When no one is looking, we find time to unload the dishwasher and clean the bathroom. But, when do you pamper yourself?
A better question is how do we pamper ourselves – when there are only 24 hours in a day? Pampering means many things to many people. To me, it means having the time to do something for myself – and by myself!!
Now that it is summer, The Boy goes to camp two {half} days per week (!) and I use the car ride after drop off to pamper myself by rocking out to Alanis Morrissette, Kid Rock, or Dave Matthews Band. I love listening to grown up music every once in a while. On those days, I may treat myself to a pedicure or eye brow wax, too. It’s so nice to hit the spa for some downtime. I appreciate having those {half} days to myself.
I’ve also been known to take myself out to lunch. Nothing fancy. Maybe just Panera or the Olive Garden. I sit at my table savoring the flavors of the food in peace and quiet. By myself. Who knew that eating alone could be such an amazing experience.
It is important to recharge and reconnect with yourself. Want to share how you pamper yourself?

I totally agree that taking advantage of quiet alone time is the best way to pamper yourself.

I definitely agree. I used to live by myself, and now I’m living in a house of 5 and it gets kind of tough to be alone sometimes. I need a getaway, hahah.

It really is important to take time for yourself when you can. Make use of the small moments – make time for yourself wherever you can, however you can. I usually take my time when my daughter is having a nap or down for the night.

I love to go to Starbucks and just sit there and write. I’ll put in my headphones and block out all of the outside world. It’s a time for me to reflect on myself and myself alone. I love it.
